I support the idea of making it a crime for people, companies, or organizations to claim military medals they didn't earn provided the people doing so are making money off of the claim or otherwise lying about it to make gains either politically or economically.
If they're not making money off of their lies, and if they're not making political points or using their lies to bolster their company's image, I wouldn't be supportive of the measure since nobody's getting hurt in such a case.
You may know that L. Ron Hubbard, the founder of one of the most criminal domestic espionage cults in America's history claimed to have some 23 medals including multiple Purple Hearts, claims which his Scientology business continues to lie about today.
In fact Hubbard acquired 4 medals, all of them the medals given to every Pacific Theature Navy man. To make it worse, Hubbard was relieved of command after shelling the Coronado Islands
