Nothing Left To Steal Bernanke!

Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke said Congress should consider another stimulus package:

“The uncertainty currently surrounding the economic outlook is unusually large,”... “Any fiscal action inevitably involves trade-offs - not only among current needs and objectives, but also because commitments of resources today can burden future generations and constrain future policy options. That being said, with the economy likely to be weak for several quarters and with some risk of a protracted slowdown, consideration of a fiscal package by the Congress at this juncture seems appropriate.”



Comment: Democratic leaders and even President Bush support another absurd economic stimulus package in the neighborhood of $150 to $300 BILLION (Nice Neighborhood)!After all the first one worked so well!

Sorry Ben but we are all out of funny money.There just is nothing left to steal!

What would be a good plan now, do you think Gsmanning - something that really needs to be done so the economy will take a turn for the better?

I believe in the free market system and do not think bailing out banks and Wall Street investment firms who made bad investments in sub-prime loans is the correct way to go!

Greed and stupidity,whether on Wall Street on Main Street or in Joe Six Pack's home,should not be rewarded or incentivised with taxpayers' dollars. I also do not believe that another economic stimulus package will be of any benefit except to politicians!

I think the first thing we need to do is repeal the Community Reinvestment Act which caused or contributed to the current financial crisis. I think we need to investigate the activities of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac over the past 10 years.

Sounds interesting and totally logical. Still, it all depends on politicians really and -like you say- they do seem to gain from crises like these.
