I can remember back in '68 I was driving the country one summer and picked up two guys who looked like hippies, but were in fact Jews from South Africa who had just completed their two year military obligation. We traveled together for a few days and finally went north, through Glacier National Park and into Kaniduh, where they planned to head West and I planned to go East.

While the South Africans were being interrogated in a seperate room, one of the Canuck officials tried to engage me in casual conversation. 'We sure have been getting a lot of young American men wanting to emigrate,' he smirked.

'If Kaniduh wants America's cowards, she's certainly welcome to them,' I smirked back. The immigration guy got all red in the face and stalked off.

If you need to get away, you can't wait to the last minute the way you could before.
