CBS has got big credibility problems......

Downing Street MemoGate? Looks like the CBS standard applies to the Downing Street Memos:

The eight memos - all labeled 'secret' or 'confidential' - were first obtained by British reporter Michael Smith, who has written about them in The Daily Telegraph and The Sunday Times. Smith told AP he protected the identity of the source he had obtained the documents from by typing copies of them on plain paper and destroying the originals.

It seems quite strange that the original memos, which are claimed by left to prove that the Bush administration lied about WMD intelligence to justify liberating Iraq (which, by the way, anyone who actually reads them would know they don't even do that) would be destroyed to protect the sources. Sounds oddly familiar doesn't it? Do the words 'fake but accurate' mean anything to you?

What makes this situation even sadder is the fact that Democrats held a mock impeachment hearing over the Iraq war, which 'concluded' these unverifiable documents were a smoking gun that Bush lied to the nation. I suppose none of them actually read the memos either.

It's time for the Democratic Party to get back in touch with reality.

The originals were NOT destroyed. They are still in the files of British cabinet members. The COPY from the originals was destroyed after the transcripts were made.
