An interesting aspect of yet another difference between McCain and Obama was seen clearly during the interviews with Pastor Rick Warren.
The difference between the practical person with the real life experience and real past that McCain is and the academic, virtual lives in his head that is Obama.
Jefferson describes it as the difference between hypothetical academia and realistic decisions and he got a point there.
I have to say that when someone describes as the hardest choice he had to make something that had no bearing on the real world (voting against the war in Iraq when he wasn’t even at the Senate then just on Illinois senate) I get a little worried.
Not that I wasn’t worried before.
Does Obama even knows what real life means?
He might have nice theories and dreams but there is no way he can dream and be detached from practical real life thinking and be able to lead someone. To lead you have to actually walk somewhere in the reality, inspirations and dreams are hardly enough.
I can honestly say that I’ll feel much safer if the polls would start leaning toward McCain.

I was reading the recent posts on several blogs that I’ve added to my blogline reading list and found very interesting discussion that I felt were worth mentioning.
Blogs for victory talk about the hypocrisy of Al Gore talking about global warming while spending enormous amounts of energy with his jet ski, limo fleet and new boathouse.
The second item is what I found to be a very interesting discussion on Dissecting Leftism disucssing the future moves of McCain to straighten his support.
But to win, Mr. McCain must also make a compelling case for electing John McCain. Voters trust him on terrorism and Iraq and they see him as a patriot who puts country first. But they want to know for what purpose?
In the coming weeks, he needs to lay out a bold domestic reform program. He gave a taste on energy, but with a few missteps. He should appear in front of manufacturing plants where jobs depend on affordable energy, small businesses affected by fuel prices, and farms hurt by skyrocketing fertilizer costs — and not in front of oil rigs. He needs to describe the consequences of specific domestic policy decisions. He must explain how his proposals on energy, health care, jobs and education will make a difference for ordinary families.
Mr. McCain also needs to elevate his arguments. It’s not only that he opposes tax increases and Mr. Obama favors them. Mr. McCain must also make the principled case that there should be a limit to what government can take from its citizens. This argument will appeal to a large majority of voters. The top income tax rate is 35% and, according to the Tax Foundation, 89% of Americans believe that government should take no more than 30% from anyone’s paycheck.
Mr. McCain should also talk about issues that increase Republican enthusiasm and win over independents, such as earmarks and judicial activism. And he should not shy away from appeals for bipartisanship. He’s done it — and talking about it undermines Mr. Obama, who hasn’t. It also explains who Mr. McCain is. Mr. McCain should welcome opportunities to go against the grain. Defending free trade in manufacturing states is gutsy and feeds his maverick, straight-talk image. He will be pleasantly surprised to find out how many people in Ohio and elsewhere understand that their state’s prosperity depends on knocking down trade barriers.
It is vey rare to find an intelligent discussion about how to increase the support of McCain and not just explain why Obama is wrong so I was pleasantly surprised.

A new report say that unskilled Hispanic aliens are heading home!
The decrease is not great but it is steady and after one immigrant is caught and sent home seven others follow. This certainly means that the efforts are effective. I guess the work situation has its part but the trend started even before it.
Endiana.com adds one important comment that is important for all of us to remember. If Obama reaches the White House all the progress would stop.
I have nothing against Hispanic as a group or as individuals but if they would invest as much energies in changing their countries to a place that would enable them a good life that they invest in attempting to live the American dream, they would have no need for illegal immigration.
Sure it is hard to take an active social, political and moral part in the shaping of their countries but it can be the key for them to live the dream at home.
Why people that are willing to go to extreme to build a life for themselves here can’t do the same effort to bring about a real change in their countries?

As of Yesterday it seems that Obama’s tour around the world isn’t bringing him the results that he hopes for in the polls.
No Poll Bounce For Obama and the good news are that most American don’t believe that an image of someone who knows and can handle foreign policy can be created by a round the world trip.
Found an interesting post on MUCKRAKER blog saying basically the same thing.
One doesn’t become commander in chief material from one short visit and the polls are reflecting this understanding. Visit or no visit it is the ability to focus on the needs of America and being able to lead from day to day in difficult situations that makes a leader and these are the qualities that McCain has to offer.
